Mullein - Verbascum thapsus

Qualities/Actions: Mullein has been used for centuries to support respiratory health and is often used in teas or tinctures to ease coughs, congestion, and bronchitis. Additionally, Mullein has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used topically to soothe minor skin irritations and wounds.


Beneficial for bronchitits and dry coughs as its rich in mucilage and saponins. Mullein is a natural expectorant which helps encourage a productive cough to remove the congestion. 


Fun fact: The fresh leaves are known as "Cowboys Toilet Paper." Be sure to grab some next time you need to use the bathroom outside!


Anti-inflammatory: Controls inflammation, a reaction to injury or infection.

Demulcent: Relieves inflammation or irritation.
Expectorant: Used to help clear mucus (phlegm) from your airway.

Lung Tonic: Provides good support to keep their lungs healthy.


Common Use: Infusion, Tincture.


Safety: Mullein has small hairs on its leaves that can be irritating to the throat and mouth. Always filter/strain the leaves before using.


Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container.
